Rotary Choral Festival – Tickets Available Now!

Forty-nine years ago, two teachers at Glendora High School worked to create a choir festival that would include all the choral singers in the Glendora Unified School District.  Gordie Norman was the band director at that time and established Bandorama in 1969. It was a great success, so in 1971, Mr. Norman suggested to Donald Clarke, the choir director, that they should do a similar thing with the choirs at GHS.  It worked – and this year on February 28th at 7pm, the combined choirs from grades 4-12 will sing together at Haugh Auditorium at Citrus College.

First, in the program, the choirs from Goddard and Sandburg Middle Schools will sing separately some of their literature including excerpts from their musicals.  They will be followed by Silhouettes and Royal Stewarts from Glendora High School giving a glimpse of the very popular show choir sets that they are performing in competitions throughout Southern California.  The combined elementary school choirs, directed by Sarah Stockham, will then present a sample of the music they are performing this season.

Finally, all choirs will combine for a Patriotic Fantasy, complete with the National Anthem, Beautiful America and a Salute to the Armed Forces, complete with color guard bearing flags of all branches of our military.  The finale will be “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, sung by over 600 young voices.  It is a very popular concert and will likely sell out.

Please join us to help support the choral programs in Glendora Unified School District!
